Men's Tennis Trio to Compete in NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships

LUBBOCK, Texas – For the second-straight year, the Texas Tech men’s tennis team will have the same three student-athletes competing in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships as juniors Raony Carvalho, Gonzalo Escobar and Rafael Garcia will represent the Red Raiders.

The singles and doubles portions of the NCAA Championships run May 25-30 at the Taube Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif., hosted by Stanford University.

Twenty-third ranked Carvalho and No. 26 Escobar are two of 64 players in the singles draw. Carvalho boasts a 22-1 record in duals this spring, while Escobar is 16-10 heading into the championships.

The duo of 20th-ranked Carvalho and Garcia are 12-11 in duals this year. The tandem is one of 32 doubles teams in the championships.

This is the third year for Carvalho to compete in both the singles and doubles championships.
