IRVINE, Calif. --- The 68th-ranked Anteaters scored a big home win, 4-3, over San Jose State Sunday afternoon at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

Doubles pair Marivick Mamiit and Sarah Stadfelt took their doubles match, 8-4, but the Spartans (0-1) rebounded to win the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3.

UCI (1-1) quickly snatched the lead from SJSU with quick points from No. 4 Sarah Gong and No. 2 Marivick Mamiit. SJSU retied the match thanks to a win at No. 6, but a pair of come-from-behind, third-set wins from Kristina Smith and Franziska Goettsching gave UCI the 4-2 advantage for its first win of the season.

UCI is back on the court next Saturday, January 26th as it takes part in the ITA Kickoff Classic on the campus of USC. The 'Eaters play at 9:00 a.m. against No. 55 Tulane with its Sunday match to be determined.
