Wyoming Falls To #44 ranked Utah

In their third match of the week, the Cowgirl Tennis Team fell 7-0 to 44th ranked Utah Utes, on Saturday afternoon, in Salt Lake City.

The Utes earned the doubles point by winning all three matches. Sarah Summerfield and Carly Van Hollen started off with an 8-6 loss to Erin Monson and Andrea Maughan Rebecca Berger and Jamie Nelson fell to Anastasia Putilina and Lisa Johnson, 8-4. To wrap up doubles, Carolina Chaix and Calli Pass were defeated by Leigh Walsh and Evgenia Kryuchkova, 8-0.

The Cowgirls struggled in singles play as well. In the number one spot, Sarah Summerfield battled against Anastasia Putilina but fell in three sets 7-6, 5-7, 10-5. Rebecca Berger lost to Erin Monson, 7-6, 6-2. Carly Van Hollen also lost a tough one, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1, againt Leigh Walsh. Jamie Nelson competed in the number four spot and fell to Lisa Johnson, 7-6, 6-4, while Carolina Chaix was defeated by Lexi Provancha, 6-0, 6-0. The Utes closed things out as Andrea Maughan defeated Calli Pass, 6-0, 6-0.

Wyoming will head to Ogden, Utah to compete in their final match of the weekend. They will face the Weber State Wildcats on Sunday, March 29. The match is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
