Laie, HI—The third-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis team swept UH-Hilo 9-0 today on the BYU–Hawaii courts. The Seasiders won all six singles matches in straight sets and won the three doubles matches handily to improve to 8-0 for the season.
Ayako Ikeda and Shawni Porter took an 8-3 win at number one doubles while Justine Gallaci and Theresa Holmes were winning by the same score at the third doubles position. Salina Aranda and Sophia Simmons scored an 8-2 victory at the second doubles slot.
Yuan Jia earned a 6-3, 7-6(1) win at number one singles and Ikeda won 6-1, 6-4 at the second spot. Porter took a 6-2, 6-2 win at number three, Aranda won 6-2, 6-1 at number four, Holmes claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win at number five, and Simmons won 6-0, 6-0 at the sixth singles position.
The Seasiders play again on Tuesday against Clayton State in Laie at 2:00 pm HST.
