Women’s Tennis – Rainbow Wahine Invitational

     Honolulu, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis team found more success at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational today as they came away on top in all but one final.  The Seasiders picked up two singles wins and one loss and four doubles wins as play in the tournament concluded.

            In singles play Annie Hwang Barbara Pinterova of Hawaii 5-7, 6-1, 10-3 in a match continued from yesterday to advance to the finals of the Black Flight where she was paired against teammate Sherry Liu.  The Seasiders elected not to play the final match.  Kaylyn Bristol defeated Kelsey Valentine of Chaminade 6-1, 6-2 to win the consolation bracket of the Green Flight.  In the championship match of the Green Flight the Seasiders’ Sasha Ulbrichtova lost a close match with Martina Kostolova of Hawaii.

            In doubles play the Seasiders claimed the championship of each flight with Hwang and Liu teaming up to win the Black Flight with a win over Katarina Poljakova and Xenia Suworowa of Hawaii (8-0) in the semifinals and a 9-7 win over Barbara Pinterova and Jamie Pawid of Hawaii in the finals.  Ulbrichtova and Sophia Simmons claimed the Green Flight championship with an 8-6 win over Rebecca Faltusz and Kelsey Daguio of Hawaii in the semifinals and an 8-6 win over Aggie Van Den Bergh and Kostolova of Hawaii in the finals.
