Augusta, GA—The second-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis team improved to their undefeated record of 16-0 today with a 8-1 win over Augusta State University. The Seasiders lost just a single game, at number six singles, as they waltzed to the win.
Elwen Li and Yuan Jia won 8-0 at number one doubles. Annie Hwang and Shawni Porter swept the court and won 8-3 in number two doubles. Salina Aranda and Sasha Ulbrichtova won at number three doubles play 8-1.
In singles play, Hwang took the number one spot winning 6-0, 6-1. Jia won in number two singles 6-2, 6-0. Li played in number three singles and won 6-2, 6-0. Ulbrichtova hit in another win for the Seasiders winning 6-1, 6-1. In number five singles play, Sophia Simmons won 6-2, 6-4.
The next action for the BYU–Hawaii women’s tennis team will be tomorrow against Columbus State in Augusta, Georgia at 12:00 pm.
