Brigham Young University Hawaii Women Open Conference Play

Laie, HI—The second-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis team opened the Pacific West Conference tournament today with a 5-0 win over Dominican to improve to 24-0 for the season.  The Seasiders swept the three doubles matches easily and picked up quick wins at number two and three singles to end the match.

Elwen Li and Yuan Jia won 8-0 at number one doubles while Annie Hwang and Shawni Porter won 8-1 at number two.  Salina Aranda and Sasha Ulbrichtova took an 8-1 win at number three doubles.

In singles play, Jia took a 6-0, 6-1 win at number two singles and Aranda swept to a 6-0, 6-0 win at the third spot.  BYU-Hawaii led the other four singles matches when play was stopped.

The next action for the BYU–Hawaii women’s tennis team will be tomorrow against Chaminade in the second round of the PacWest championships in Laie.
