Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team finished an outstanding 2009 season under first-year head coach Brandon Stokes. The Owls posted an 18-8 dual match record, a runners-up finish in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and an individual ranked No. 116 nationally by the ITA. The Owls also earned a Southeast Regional rank of No. 14 among 46 teams.

"This is arguably the most challenging region in the country," said Stokes. "Out of the 15 regionally ranked universities in our area, 13 went to the NCAA Tournament. These teams represented 20% of the entire NCAA championship field. The remaining seven regions completed the field and each region averaged 12% in the tournament."

FAU climbed as high as no. 59 midway through the season. There are eight geographic regions in collegiate tennis which comprise over 200 universities sponsoring men's tennis.

The No. 14 regional rank is the highest in the program's history.
