BOCA RATON, FL (April 10, 2010) -- The Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team closed out the regular season on a positive note, scoring a decisive 7-0 victory over Florida rival Bethune Cookman University on Saturday afternoon at the Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton.

The win improved the Owls to 12-8 on the season and halted a two-match losing streak. FAU will now prepare for the Sun Belt Conference Championships on April 22-24 in New Orleans.

Senior Lawrence Harradine dropped just two games in a victory at No. 2 singles that clinched the match. The Barcelona, Spain native also played a role in clinching the match's doubles point, joining freshman Georg Matschke for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.

"It was a good team victory," said Harradine. "We could have taken them lightly, but we stayed focused and played a solid overall match."

Junior Marc Abdelnour cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles. The win tied him for team-high honors with freshman Matthew Braunworth at 13 singles victories. Other singles victories were posted by junior Ervin Garibovic, a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 3 singles; junior Joshua Scholl, who got back on track with a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles; Matschke, who won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles; and sophomore Derek Madon, a 6-3, 6-0 victor.

The Owls also swept all three doubles matches with Garibovic and Scholl teaming to record an 8-2 victory in the No. 2 position, while Abdelnour and Madon picked up an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
