GUSTAVUS DEFEATS UW-EAU CLAIRE AND HAMLINE
 
The Gusties increased their winning streak to four on Saturday at the Owatonna Indoor Tennis Center.  The entire team traveled an hour to play home matches because the women's team was hosting the Division III Women's National Indoor at the Swanson Indoor Center.  Twenty varsity players saw action and most of them emerged with victories.  Gustavus beat a strong University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire team 8-1.  At the same time they upped their MIAC record to 2-0 by downing Hamline 8-1.  Nationally ranked John Kauss increased his winning streak to five in singles and six in doubles as he teamed with Mike Burdakin.   At the same time the Gustavus team improved its record to 7-3.

The coming week will be a busy one for the Gusties.  On Thursday at 3:00 p.m. they host Montana State-Billings.  On Saturday the team hosts Morningside College from Sioux City, Iowa at 8:30 a.m., St. Olaf College at 1:30 p.m., and Grinnell College at 6 p.m.  Meanwhile other team members will assist Coach Wilkinson make a presentation on doubles drills to the Minnesota High School coaches at 8:30 a.m. at the Fort Snelling Tennis Center near the Minneapolis airport.  Afterwards at 11:00 a.m. they play Bethel University in the same facility.  The next day on Sunday, March 8 the team drives to Drake University in Des Moines for a match at 2 p.m.
