Pearl River Lady Wildcat fall to CoLin Lady Wolves

The Pearl River Lady Wildcats fought hard but were unable to overcome the CoLin Wolves, falling 8-1.

Emily Leverett of Raymond, Mississippi, and Kenyatta Epps of Yazoo City, Mississippi, picked up the only point for the Lady Wildcats by defeating CoLin's Mary Catherine McDonnieal and Meagan Neal at number three doubles 8-3.  In other doubles action, Kasey King of Purvis, Mississippi, and Janae Norwood of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, fell to Rosa Young and Katie Beth Case 8-4 at the number one position, and Alyssa Wolfe of Foxworth, Mississippi, and Kristen Barber of Sandy Hook, Mississippi, were defeated by Nicole Magee and Heather Huff at the number two spot 8-3.

Though there were several close matches, the Lady Wildcats were unable to claim any singles victories against the CoLin Lady Wolves.  At number one, King fell to Young 6-3, 6-0; at number two, Norwood was defeated by Case 6-4, 6-3; at number three, Wolfe lost to Magee 6-4, 6-1; at number four, Barber was defeated by Huff 6-3, 7-6(4); at number five, Leverett fell to McDonnieal 7-5, 7-5; and at number six, Brookes McInnis of Brooklyn was defeated by Neal 6-0, 6-2.

The Lady Wildcats travel to Biloxi tomorrow to play Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College at the Biloxi Tennis Complex at 12:00 p.m. in a match postponed from Tuesday.
