Lady Wildcats Defeated by Hinds Community College Eagles
The Lady Wildcats fell to the Hinds Community College Eagles 7-2.
In doubles, the Lady Wildcats pulled one of the three courts. No. 3 doubles team Emily Leverett of Raymond and Kenyatta Epps of Yazoo City defeated Cicil Williams and Joy Bethea of Hinds 8-2, bringing their dual match record at the position to 4-1. At No. 1 doubles, Kasey King of Purvis and Janae Norwood of Hattiesburg fell to Oksona Fomenko and Hailee Melton 8-3. At No. 2 doubles, Alyssa Wolfe of Foxworth and Kristen Barber of Sandy Hook were defeated by Hinds's Jennifer Hill and Grace Ga-as 8-4.
Epps continued her winning streak, claiming the only other point of the day for the Lady Wildcats at the No. 6 singles position, defeating Carly Miller 6-2, 6-2. In other action, at No. 1 King was defeated by Fomenko 6-1, 6-0; at No. 2 Norwood fell to Melton 6-0, 6-2; at No. 3 Wolfe fell to Hill 6-3, 6-1; at No. 4 Barber was defeated by Ga-as 6-1, 6-0; and at No. 5 Leverett fell to Williams 6-0, 6-0.
The Lady Wildcats travel to Ellisville to play the Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats Friday, March 12 at 12:00 p.m. in a match that was rescheduled from Wednesday, March 10.
