Durkin and Hodge to Join Women's Tennis in 2014

Rice women's tennis coach Elizabeth Schmidt announced on Monday that Savannah Durkin of Miramar, Florida and Lindsey Hodge of Alpharetta, Georgia have signed national letters of intent and will join the Rice program for the 2014-15 season.
 
"We are thrilled that both Lindsey and Savannah will be joining our team next year." Schmidt said., "While they both are great competitors and have been extremely successful on the court and in the classroom, most importantly, both are outstanding individuals with high character. In the recruiting process it was very obvious that Savannah and Lindsey fully grasp what it means to be a team player and will really thrive in the college environment. We welcome them to the Rice Owl family and look forward to many exciting times with them," Schmidt added.
 
Durkin is currently ranked by TennisRecruiting.net as the 30th ranked senior in the country and is listed as a 5 Star recruit while Hodge is ranked 32nd and listed as a Blue Chip recruit. Hodge is ranked 16th among high school seniors in IMG's RPI rankings with a score of 64.7, having posted a 44-19 tournament record. Durkin his ranked 32nd with an RPI of 62.9 and a 54-24 record in tournament play.
 
Durkin is a product of former Rice All American Harold Solomon's Tennis Institute in Ft. Lauderdale. She was a finalist in the 18 year old division of the Florida State Tennis Championships in June.
 
Hodge reached the finals of Girls 18-and-under Southern Championships and the semifinals of the Georgia State Championships last May.
