Irvine, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's tennis team upset No. 68 Utah, 6-1 for the Anteaters' first win of the season Sunday at the Anteater Tennis Stadium.
The Anteaters began the match capturing the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Both No. 1 Wes Miller and Khunpol Issara and No. 2 Jon Kazarian and Zac Tsai won 8-6. It was the first loss for the Utes (1-5) at the No. 1 doubles position this season.
UCI then picked up wins from No. 1 Miller, No. 3 Fabian Matthews, No. 4 Issara, No. 5 Stephen Stege and No. 6 Tsai.
The Anteaters earn their first win of the season and go to 1-5 overall, while Utah drops to 5-4.
UC Irvine travels to San Diego Wednesday for a 1:30 p.m. match.
