U. of Nevada Men's Tennis Ranked 59 in the Nation
Wednesday, 03/18/2009

RENO, Nev. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the NCAA’s governing body of collegiate tennis, ranked the University of Nevada men’s tennis team No. 59 in the nation Tuesday.

Nevada’s record is 6-3 overall entering this weekend’s match at home against Idaho in the Wolf Pack’s Western Athletic Conference season opener. Last Sunday, Nevada pulled an upset victory over then-ranked No. 44 San Diego State.

This season, the Wolf Pack has shutout three teams in five matches, Pomona-Pitzer (Feb. 14), at home against Sonoma State (March 1) and UC Davis (March 7). The Pack has also swept four of five singles competitions.

Nevada joins Boise State (No. 22), Fresno State (No. 43) and New Mexico State (No. 64) as the only teams in the WAC ranked by the ITA.

“This ranking is because of hard work from the players and the support from the athletics department and  the community,” Nevada head coach Chad Stoloff said.
