Wessim Derbel becomes first freshman in Nevada men's tennis to be ranked by ITA.

RENO, Nev. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the governing body of intercollegiate tennis, ranked University of Nevada men’s tennis freshman Wessim Derbel No. 123 in singles on Tuesday. Derbel is the first freshman in team history to have been ranked by the ITA as an individual.

Derbel joined Nevada (10-3, 1-0 Western Athletic Conference) in January and is 11-1 overall in singles this season. A native of La Marsa, Tunisia, Derbel has made appearances in the Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 singles positions, with only one loss in the No. 2 spot.

Along with junior Laurent Garcin, Derbel is on a six-match winning streak in singles and has won eight of the last 10 matches.

The Wolf Pack has a bye this weekend and will conclude its home schedule next weekend in against WAC opponents New Mexico State and Boise State.
