ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 68 Nebraska men’s tennis team dropped the first of its two weekend matches on Saturday afternoon, as the No. 22 Michigan Wolverines were victorious, 4-3. The disappointing loss drops the Huskers to 10-11 on the year and 3-5 in Big Ten action. Michigan improves to 14-5 and 7-1 in conference action.

The Huskers started off the match losing a tough doubles point when it came down to court No. 2.

The Huskers had Andre Stenger and Robert Schluze on court No. 2 and the duo had match point against Michigan’s Barrett Franks and Alex Buzzi. However, Nebraska’s team couldn’t capitalize and Michigan’s squad came back to win the match, 9-8 (9), thus giving the Wolverines the doubles point that would eventually decide the match.

NU’s duo of Christopher Aumueller and Benedikt Lindheim defeated UM’s No. 13 Evan King and Shaun Bernstein on court No. 1, 8-4.

In singles play on court No. 1, Michigan’s King got his revenge from his doubles play loss over NU’s Aumueller, 6-3, 6-1. NU’s Lindhiem defeated Michigan’s Alex Petrone in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3, on court No. 2.

Nebraska’s Stenger picked up another point for the Huskers on court No. 3 when he was victorious over UM’s Michael Zhu, 6-3, 6-2. Michigan’s Franks was victorious on court No. 4 when he downed NU’s Schulze, 6-1, 6-1.

Michigan picked up its fourth point on court No. 5 when Buzzi downed NU’s Stefan Gollner, 7-6(4), 6-3. Nebraska was victorious on court No. 6 when Tom Blackwell downed Eli Brown, 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (5).

The Huskers will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to East Lansing, Mich., to take on the Michigan State Spartans. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
