Stillwater, Okla. - The USD Men's Tennis team, ranked 63rd overall in the March 3rd ITA poll, dropped its fourth straight decision Monday to the #21 Cowboys of Oklahoma State Univesity. Due to the impending threat of rain, singles matches were played first, followed by doubles.

Playing in very windy conditions, the Toreros came out strong, winning the first two singles matches. At No. 4, freshman Nicola Bubnic downed Aleksey Bessonov in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, followed by a win at No. 2 by junior Charl Wolmarans over Mikhail Trukshanin, 7-6, 6-1, giving San Diego an early 2-0 lead.

The Cowboys would come roaring back, winning the next two matches at No. 6 and No. 5. OSU's Igor Sobolta notched a win over sophomore Nils Schive, 6-3, 6-4 and soon after Anton Bobytskyi topped freshman Tom Wolff, 6-4, 6-3.

San Diego would go up by one, when at No. 3 senior Chris Coetzee powered past Nathan Byrnes, 7-6, 4-6, 6-2. The Toreros would need only one more victory for the match win.

The Cowboys, however, would not be denied, evening the score once again at No. 1 when the 5th ranked player in the nation, Oleksandr Nedovyesov of Ukraine, dealt San Diego's go-to sophomore Dean Jackson (#81) a loss in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.

Oklahoma would go on to win the doubles point and ultimately, the match victory.

For the first time this season, the Cowboys were able to secure the doubles point. Nedovyesov and Byrnes topped USD's tandem of Coetzee and Wolmarans at No. 1, 8-4. Jackson and Schive pulled the Toreros even with the Cowboys by downing Sobolta and Trukshanin, 8-4. But the clinching dounbles point and match win for OU came at No. 3 when Bobytskyi and Bessonov defeated Wolff and Devilier, 8-4.

San Diego will continue their treak through Oklahoma, rapping up their four game road trip against University of Tulsa tomorrow, Mar. 10th at 11:00 a.m. PT.
