Gaytan-Leach, Scott reach finals at Longhorn Invitational

Sophomore Cierra Gaytan-Leach qualifies for singles and doubles finals, while freshman Noel Scott will join Gaytan-Leach in the doubles final.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas sophomore Cierra Gaytan-Leach won a pair of matches to reach the singles final and teamed up with freshman Noel Scott to advance to the doubles finals Saturday on day two of the Longhorn Invitational.
Gaytan-Leach started the day with a 7-5, 6-4 win over San Diego’s Laura Claus in the singles quarterfinals before knocking off Texas Tech’s Sandra Dynka in the singles semifinals, 6-7, 6-3, 6-3. In the finals, Gaytan-Leach will match up against San Diego’s Juliette Coupez, who defeated UT’s Krista Damico in three sets.
Gaytan-Leach and Scott posted an 8-3 win over Texas Tech’s Haley Fournier and Caroline Starck to reach the doubles final, where they will meet San Diego’s Claus and Coupez. Sunday’s doubles final is set for a 9 a.m. Central start, with the singles final to follow.
