AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Men's Tennis head coach Michael Center announced the signing of John Mee (Highland Park, Texas) to a National Letter of Intent on Friday.

Mee is classified as a five-star 'Blue-Chip' recruit according to TennisRecruiting.net. He is the second-ranked recruit in Texas and has achieved career high rankings of No. 21 by TennisRecruiting.net and No. 14 by the USTA in the class of 2014.

"We are really excited about John joining our program," Center said. "He is a great competitor and his game is continuing to grow. We are getting an outstanding student-athlete that can excel in both singles and doubles. I look for him to be a very good player for us here at Texas."

Mee has eight singles victories over fellow 'Blue-Chip' recruits, including USC freshman Robby Bellamy, Princeton freshman Joshua Yablon and Yale freshman Tyler Lu. Mee is a member of the Texas Junior Davis Cup team and he won a U.S. Open Sectional Qualifier in mixed doubles last June in Arlington, Texas.

John is the son of William and Anne-Marie Mee. His father played tennis at the University of Oklahoma and his older sister, Kristen, is a sophomore tennis player at the University of Arkansas.
