Sigsgaard wins men’s singles, mixed doubles titles at Denmark Championships

Hillerød, Denmark – University of Texas Men's Tennis rising senior Christian Sigsgaard won both the men's singles and mixed doubles titles at the Denmark Championships, each for the second time in his career, on Sunday at the Hillerød Tennis Club.

Sigsgaard defeated August Holmgren, 6-2, 6-1, in the men's singles final to take the gold again after previously winning it in 2016. In mixed doubles, he and partner Maria Jespersen (Gentofte) also won for the second time, defeating Lyngby-pair Sille Tranberg and Nicolai Ferrigno, 6-2, 6-4, after winning in 2017.

Sigsgaard is also previously a two-time men's doubles champion, having won in 2016 and 2017, while also earning under 16 singles and mixed doubles titles in 2013, and an under 14 singles title in 2011.

Sigsgaard, who played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the 2019 NCAA Champion Longhorns (29-3 record), earned ITA All-America honors in both singles and doubles this past season. The Big 12 Co-Player of the Year and the league's No. 1 singles co-champion, he finished the year ranked No. 6 in both singles and doubles in the final ITA national rankings. Sigsgaard posted a 38-14 overall singles record (17-9 in dual-match play) and a 23-10 overall doubles mark (15-7 in dual-match play) with partner Harrison Scott during the 2018-19 season.
