ON A ROLL, WOMEN'S TENNIS ROUTS VCU FOR THIRD STRAIGHT

RICHMOND, Va. – Freshman Mihaela Bunea picked up her team-best 14th singles win and Virginia Commonwealth University rolled to its third straight victory, topping Old Dominion, 6-1, Wednesday at Thalhimer Tennis Center.

VCU has won five of its last six matches to improve to 9-4 on the season. ODU slips to 10-3.

Bunea routed Marija Citic, 6-0, 6-2 on the No. 6 singles court to raise her singles mark to 14-4 this season. She is 9-1 in dual matches and has won six straight decisions.

Junior Laura Burns, also continued her outstanding spring, defeating Joanna Dobrowolska, 6-3, 6-0 at third position. Burns is 13-2 this year, including a VCU-best 10-2 in dual matches. She also teamed with Kateryna Yergina for a doubles victory over Dobrowolska and Irina Dementyeva on the No. 2 court. Burns and Yergina are 7-3 in doubles action this year.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, Feb. 28 when they meet Princeton at 3 p.m. in Williamsburg,Va.
