NEW ORLEANS, La. (UCFAthletics.com) – The UCF women’s tennis team reached the halfway point of the dual-match season Monday with a 7-0 victory over Southern in New Orleans, La. The win lifted the Knights to a 6-4 overall record, as they will complete their spring-break trip Tuesday when they take on Tulane at 1 p.m. ET.

UCF did not surrender a game in the two doubles matches that were contested. The No. 1 tandem of senior Elvira Serrot and sophomore Jenny Frisell took care of Megan Wiltz and Kathryn Curtis, 8-0, to remain perfect at 6-0 this spring. Over at No. 2, senior Kenza Belbacha and freshman Alexis Rodriguez shutout Bethlehem Workeneh and Janelle Mosley, 8-0, in what was the duo’s first doubles match together.

The Knights then cruised in singles play to lock up the overall win. At No. 1, Serrot got past Wiltz, 7-5, 6-1, while freshman Andrea Yacaman battled back vs. Curtis at No. 2 en route to a 2-6, 6-1, 1-0(10-2) triumph. A pair of freshmen came through at Nos. 3 and 4, where Rodriguez topped Mosley, 6-4, 6-3, and Christy Core handed Workeneh a 6-0, 6-1 loss. And at the No. 5 position, junior Katie Orletsky breezed past Gabrielle Marshall, 6-1, 6-1, for her 10th singles win of the year.
