Freshman Alexa Guarachi wins eighth consecutive singles match

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 50th-ranked Alabama women’s tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision Sunday to No. 11 Tennessee moving the Crimson Tide to 6-5 overall and 0-2 in the Southeastern Conference. With the win, the Lady Volunteers improve to 7-4 on the season and 2-0 against league opponents.

Alabama found itself down 1-0 after losing the doubles point but was awarded a point to start singles as Tennessee was forced to forfeit the No. 6 spot. Freshman Alexa Guarachi gave the Tide its other win in the match with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Lady Vol junior, and 47th-ranked, Maria Sorbello.
