Wednesday, 04/01/2009

Durham, N.C. - The Boston College men's tennis team dropped two ACC matches over the weekend, losing to Duke University on Friday and the North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday both by a score of 7-0.

In Friday's match, junior Thomas Nolan won the opening set of his singles match in the No. 1 position before dropping the next two for a point for the Blue Devils (4-6, 6-1, 6-2).

It was a scene repeated throughout the singles line up as freshman Akash Muppidi and sophomore Brendan Wong also won the opening sets of their matches before falling in three to their opponents.

Muppidi and Adam Davison playing the No. 3 doubles position defeated their challengers 8-5 but Duke won the No. 1 and 2 matches to take the point and a 7-0 win.

On Saturday the Eagles traveled to Chapel Hill to take on the University of North Carolina in conference play.

Freshman Alex Skinner registered a lone set win for the Eagles winning the opening set of his No. 4 singles match before surrendering the following two sets to North Carolina. The Tar Heels would go on to win 7-0.

The Eagles continue their ACC schedule with home matches on Friday against Clemson and Sunday against Georgia Tech.
