Women’s Tennis Opens Play At ITA Regionals

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Freshmen Meredith McDonagh (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan) and Sarah Rodefeld (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) both competed in the singles qualifying draw to highlight the first day of play for the Bradley women's tennis team at the USTA/ITA Central Region Championship Thursday.

McDonagh dropped a hard-fought 6-3, 7-6 (3) decision to Caitlin McKenna of Saint Louis in the opening round of play and fell 6-0, 6-2 to Missouri's Rachel Stuhlman in the consolation round of the qualifying draw.

Tulsa's Caroline Beaulieu posted a 6-1, 6-0 win against Rodefeld in the first round of the qualifying draw.  Later in the day, Rodefeld went on to fall 6-4, 6-1 to Erin Wilbert of Kansas in the consolation round to close out the first day of action at the ITA Regionals for the Braves.

During Friday's play senior Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West) is scheduled to face Oklahoma State's Kanyapat Narttana in the first round of the singles main draw.  Miller is also slated to play with Rodefeld in the doubles main draw.  The duo will square off against Drake's Manca Krizman and Gabriela Demos in the doubles main draw first round.
