NORMAL, Ill. - The Bradley women's tennis team concluded play at the 2010 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championship Saturday at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts. Senior Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West) helped highlight the day for the Braves with a hard-fought, three-set loss in Flight 1 Singles and also picked up a default win in doubles.
Miller took the opening set of her Flight 1 Singles consolation bracket match against Southern Illinois' Melanie Delsart 7-6, but dropped the next two sets 4-6 and 6-10. Miller and freshman Meredith McDonagh (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan) picked up a default win in the consolation bracket of Flight 1 Doubles to finish seventh.
Freshmen Sarah Rodefeld (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and Ashley Roth (Birmingham, Mich./Birmingham Seaholm) were both playing for fifth place in their respective brackets, but dropped straight set decisions. Rodefeld fell 6-1, 6-0 to Anita Lee in the fifth-place match of Flight 2 Singles, while Roth lost 6-1, 6-3 to Northern Iowa's Stefannia Samaio for fifth place in Flight 6 Singles.
The Bradley women's tennis team is schedule to close out the Fall schedule Oct. 21-25 at the ITA Regionals in Fayetteville, Ark.
