WATERLOO, Iowa -- Freshman Merdith McDonagh (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan) picked up a victory in her first collegiate match and the doubles combo of senior Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West) and freshman Sarah Rodefeld (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) also picked up a win during the opening day of play for the Bradley women's tennis team at the Northern Iowa Fall Invitational.

McDonagh earned the only singles victory on the day for the Braves, posting a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Ilse Pacheco of Northern Illinois.  In the second round of the Bronze Flight main draw, McDonagh fell to Iowa State's Nikki Reber 6-0, 6-1. 

Rodefeld nearly pulled out a victory in her first collegiate singles match, before falling to Mariana Spilca of Minnesota, 3-6, 6-4, 3-6 in the first round of the Gold Flight Main Draw.  Rodefeld teamed will Miller in the first round of the Platinum Doubles, but fell 8-2 to Iowa's Jessica Young and Christina Harazin.  The duo of Rodefeld and Miller rebounded for an 8-4 victory against North Dakota's Erin Kappers and Steph Petsis in the Platinum Doubles back draw.

Bradley continues play at the UNI Fall Invitational Saturday at 9 a.m.
