NORMAL, Ill. -- Freshman Sarah Rodefeld (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) earned a singles win in the Flight 2 Singles bracket to highlight the opening day of the play at the 2010 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships for the Bradley women's tennis team Friday.

Rodefeld dropped her quarterfinals match of Flight 2 Singles to Illinois State's Ariane Maack, but rebounded to post a 7-6, 6-2 victory against Gabriela Demos of Drake in the consolation bracket later in the day.  Rodefeld is scheduled to play Evansville's Anita Lee in the fifth-place match of Flight 2 Singles when play resumes Saturday.

Senior Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West) fell 6-4, 7-5 to Wichita State's Raphaela Zotter in the opening round of Flight 1 Singles and then dropped a hard-fought 3-6, 7-6, 2-10 decision to Phoebe Walker of Northern Iowa in the consolation bracket.

In doubles play, the tandem of Miller and freshman Meredith McDonagh (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan) came up short against the Southern Illinois duo of Melanie Delsart and Jennifer Dien, losing 8-2 in Flight 1 Doubles.   Freshman Ashley Roth (Birmingham, Mich./Birmingham Seaholm) and Brigitte Graf (Double Oak, Texas/Faustina Academy) also fell by the score of 8-2 in Flight 3 Doubles to Creighton's Sarah Cadwallader and Kelsey Schmidt.

Play at the 2010 State Farm MVC Women's Tennis Individual Championships resumes Saturday at 9 a.m. with the second round of doubles and will immediately followed by singles play.
