BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's tennis team lost a close season opening match to Xavier University 4-3, Friday afternoon.

The Owls entered singles play a point down after dropping each of the three doubles matches. Natalia Totevska captured her singles match at no. 2. Freshman Dominique Wimmer won her first collegiate tennis match 6-2, 6-2 playing no. 3 and Virgina Augustin was victorious at no. 6 7-6 (7-1), 7-5.

After Totevska came off the court, the Owls were tied at three with the deciding match going to three sets before Xavier took the win.

"The women's team brought a lot of intensity to the courts today," said Marcy Cava FAU's first year head coach. "It was a great match and I look forward to a successful season."
