TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Jan. 22, 2011) --- The FIU women's tennis team fell to the No. 14-ranked Florida State Seminoles, 5-2, to open the 2011 dual season on Saturday, Jan. 22.

FSU opened the competition, taking two of the three doubles matches for a 1-0 advantage. Junior Christine Seredni and freshman Giulietta Boha earned the Panther's only doubles victory of the match, defeating Federica Suess and Katie Rybakova, 8-6.

Heading into singles play, the Seminoles, won four-straight matches to take a 5-0 lead before Seredni downed Francesca Segarelli, 6-1, 7-5, and Boha defeated Manon Veldman, 6-1, 7-6 (10-5). The two singles victories produced the only two points for FIU (No. 54) and the Panthers dropped their first dual match of the season, 5-2.

FIU will next host the Florida Atlantic Owls on Wednesday, Jan. 26. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
