Panthers Eliminated from USTA/ITA Southeast Regionals

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Oct. 23, 2011) --- Losses by senior Lisa Johnson, sophomore Giulietta Boha and freshman Karyn Guttormsen in singles competition ended the FIU women’s tennis team’s run in the 2011 USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championship in Gainesville, Fla., on Sunday, Oct. 23.
 
Advancing to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket of the weekend tournament, Johnson fell to North Florida’’s Aline Berkenbrock, 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3), Boha lost to Miami’s Brittany Dubins, 7-6 (7-2), 6-1, and Guttormsen lost to Florida State’s Leyla Erkan, 6-4, 4-0 retired.
 
With the losses, Johnson’s dropped to 3-3 on the year in singles play, while Boha moved to 4-2 and Guttormsen fell to 3-2.
