Hureau Falls at ITA/Riviera All-American Championships
Saturday, 10/08/2011

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Indiana’s Leslie Hureau fell short in her opening match at the ITA/Riviera All-American Championships on Thursday afternoon.  The 2011 women’s tennis singles All-American was just one of 32 players participating in the main draw of the tournament.

Hureau, currently ranked No. 39 in the country, faced-off against Zoe Scandalis of USC to begin play at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Scandalis won the match over Hureau with a final tally of 6-3, 6-2.

Hureau’s trip west may have been cut short, but she played amongst a very prestigious field at a magnificent facility.  Associate Head Coach Ramiro Azcui accompanied Hureau and believes the experience was invaluable to the junior.

“Leslie played one of the toughest newcomers in the country in Sandalis,” Azcui said. “She fought hard and played a good match.  We were able to see some of the best college tennis players in the country on this trip, and Coach (Lin) Loring and I are proud to say that our very own Leslie Hureau was part of that talent pool this week.”

Next up for IU women’s tennis is the ITA Regional Main Draw in Memphis, Tenn., which begins on Oct. 15.
