The anticipation of high winds caused the decision to play the match at Genesis instead of the previously scheduled match at the Shockers’ home court, the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex. The Shocks didn’t mind, as they were able to jump out to an early lead they would keep for the remainder of the contest to snap a brief two-match losing streak.

Lenore Lazaroiu and Lutfiana Budiharto started the afternoon with a victory over the Redbirds’ Natalia Lech and Tanja Hrovatic in the No. 2 doubles match, 8-4. Torrie Browning and Florentina Hanisch teamed up to defeat Hannah Esker and Carmen Peters in the No. 3 match, 8-5. Anna Egorova and Stephanie Dalmacio wrapped up the doubles sweep for the Shocks when they defeated Julia Zubkova and Franziska Steinhardt in the No. 1 spot, 8-5.

In singles play, Hanisch flew threw her No. 2 match to defeat Peters, 6-1, 6-2. Egorova followed suit when she knocked off Zubkova in the No. 1 spot, 6-2, 6-1. A 6-1, 6-3 victory for Budiharto against Lech in the No. 3 match clinched the Shocker victory. Working on the sweep, Browning beat Steinhardt, 6-3,     6-4 in the No. 3 spot. Lazaroiu and Dalmacio finished one right after the other to complete the sweep. Lazaroiu topped Esker, 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 5 match moments before Dalmacio defeated Hrovatic in the No. 4 spot, 6-3, 6-4.

The Shockers moved to 12-4 on the season and 2-0 in the Missouri Valley. The Shockers are in action again on Saturday when they play host to Valley foe Indiana State at 12 p.m. at Genesis Health Club. Check www.goshockers.com for scheduling updates.
