WICHITA, Kan.—Playing in their last matches at home seniors Anna Egorova and Torrie Browning won in straight sets to help the Shockers sweep the Bradley Braves, 7-0.

For the third time this weekend, inclement weather moved the match to Genesis Health Club. And, for the third time this weekend, the change of venue did nothing to deter the Shocks from getting the win.

In doubles competition, a new lineup didn’t alter the Shocks’ winning ways. Egorova teamed up with Lutfiana Budiharto to defeat Nicole Miller and Veronika Wojakowska in the No. 1 match, 8-3. Also playing without her usual partner, Lenore Lazaroiu teamed with Laryssa Ferreira to overwhelm Emily Regenold and Kelly Donohue, 8-0, in the No. 2 contest. Browning and Florentina Hanisch completed the doubles sweep, defeating Jessica Buterbaugh and Erin Krubeck, 8-4.

Singles play went just as smoothly for WSU as each Shocker took her match in straight sets. Egorova knocked off Miller in the No. 1 spot, 6-2, 6-1. Budiharto handled Wojakowska in similar fashion in the No. 2 match, 6-0, 6-1.

No one, however, played as sharply as Browning, who did not allow Regenold to win a single game in the No. 3 match. Browning won commandingly, 6-0, 6-0. Lazaroiu overcame Donohue, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 while Hanisch took care of Buterbaugh, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5. Getting the start at the No. 6 position, Ferreira made the most of the opportunity when she beat Krubeck, 6-1, 6-0.

At the conclusion of the match, Head Coach Chris Young presented both Egorova and Browning with plaques and speeches to honor their efforts and thank them for successful careers.

With the Shockers home schedule wrapped up, the team heads to Tulsa on Thursday, April 9, to take on Tulsa.
