At Central Oahu Regional Park, the HPU women's tennis team defeated Chaminade, 8-1. The win was the second of the season for HPU over the Swords, as they improve to 2-0 while CUH fall to 0-2.
The match was the first for HPU following a two-week break.
HPU swept all three doubles matches. Aleksandra Stankovic and Anastasiya Ageychik defeated Audra Takara and Tiffany DeVincent in one doubles, 8-3.
The two doubles match went to the HPU pair of Lauren Shin and Sandra Wikstrom, 8-5, as they topped Stacey Chaussoy and Natalie Phanphengdy. Zora Vlckova and Tinka Mihova won in three doubles over Silkie Kawahakui and Kiana Awado, 8-1.
HPU won all but one singles match. Outside of a Takara victory over Wikstrom in one singles 7-6 (7-3), 6-2, the Sea Warriors lost just three singles games.
Vlckova (two singles), Nina Mihova (three singles) , and Shin (six singles) each won 6-0, 6-0. Mihova currently holds a #45 ITA singles ranking.
Sister Tinka Mihova topped Phanphengdy 6-1, 6-1 in four singles, and Stankovic topped Kawahakui in five singles 6-1, 6-0.
After a pair of tune-ups with Chaminade, HPU now head to Southern California for a five-day four-match road trip. First up will be Cal Baptist this Thursday, February 26. Start time is set for 1:30 p.m. PST.
