Waipahu, HI (2/20/10) – At Central Oahu Regional Park Tennis Complex, the HPU women’s tennis team defeated Chaminade, 6-3. The Lady Sea Warriors improve to 3-0 while the Swords fall to 1-2.
HPU held a 2-1 lead at the conclusion of doubles play. The 22nd-ranked pair of Ingrid Cseh and Zora Vlckova topped Yuka Kondo and Tiffany DeVincent, 8-4, in one doubles. Sandra Wikstrom and Tinka Mihova defeated Natalie Phanphengdy and Silkie Kawahakui in two doubles, 8-1, but the HPU pair of Nina Mihova and Brittney Ynfante was defeated at the three, 8-5.
In singles action, HPU picked up wins in one, three, four, and five singles. 12th-ranked Zora Vlckova topped Kondo at love in one singles, but 40th-ranked Nina Mihova was defeated at the two, 6-4, 6-1.
Cseh and Wikstrom won at three and four singles, respectively, and Tinka Mihova defeated Kawahakui 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 at the five.
HPU plays Chaminade again this Friday, February 26, at Central Oahu Regional Park. Start time is set for 9:00 a.m.
