HPU Women’s Tennis Finishes #2 In West Region

Skillman, NJ (6/3/09) – The HPU women’s tennis team earned a #2 West Region ranking in the final 2009 ITA poll. The announcement was made today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national office. HPU was also ranked #12 in the national poll.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association is a non-profit service organization, which serves as the governing body of collegiate tennis in the United States.

Zora Vlckova and Nina Mihova finished regionally and nationally ranked in singles. Vlckova was ranked #3 in the West Region and #15 nationally. Mihova earned a #7 regional ranking, and was ranked #36 nationally.

Vlckova finished the season at 14-4, winning her final six matches. Mihova closed with a 13-8 overall record.

Vlckova was also ranked in doubles with teammate Ingrid Cseh. They finished #4 in the West Region and #18 nationally, posting a 13-7 overall record.

HPU advanced to the national quarterfinals before falling to Valdosta State. They finished the season at 17-8.
