Hawaii Pacific Slams Past Montana State-Billings, 5-0

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. (May 13, 2009) – The 14th-ranked Hawaii Pacific Sea Warriors eased to a 5-0 sweep over Montana State-Billings during the opening round of the 2009 NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis Championships, Wednesday afternoon at Sanlando Park.
The Warriors (17-7) were unscathed in doubles action as they opened with an 8-3 victory in the top flight as Zora Vlckova teamed with Ingrid Cseh to take down Johnna Beatty and Ana Juarez of the Yellow Jackets, 8-3.
Leading 1-0, the Warriors continued its dominance with an 8-1 thumping in the two slot as Lauren Shin and Anastasia Ageychik defeated the Billings’ tandem of Bekah Carlson and Hannah Moudree, 8-1.
After completing the sweep, Pacific needed just two singles victories to secure the match.  In the fifth slot, Aleksandra Stankovic cruised past Carlson in straight-sets, 6-1, 6-0, while Sandra Wikstrom was perfect in her 6-0, 6-0 defeat against Samantha Selstad.
Hawaii Pacific will be back in action, Thursday at 1:00 p.m. when they take to the courts for the NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis quarterfinal round.
