Skillman, NJ (6/12/09) – Freshman Zora Vlckova was named to the ITA All-America Women’s Tennis Team, announced today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national office.
The ITA is a non-profit service organization, which serves as the governing body of collegiate tennis in the United States.
Vlckova (Brno, Czech Republic) was the lone Sea Warrior to earn the honor, and was selected for her singles play. She was 14-4 on the season with all but one match played at one singles. Vlckova finished the season with six consecutive wins, and ranked #3 regionally and #15 nationally.
She also posted a 13-7 mark in doubles with partner Ingrid Cseh. The pair closed the season ranked #4 in the West Region and #18 nationally.
HPU advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA National Tournament this season, falling to Valdosta State in the Round of 8. The Sea Warriors finished the season ranked #2 in the West Region and #12 nationally with an overall record of 17-8. They also finished second in the Pacific West Conference.
