BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 45 Indiana women’s tennis team fell to No. 17 Nebraska on Sunday afternoon, 5-2. 
 
Nebraska (20-2, 6-1) won the first two doubles matches at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to take the point. The Indiana (15-6, 4-3) duo of Sophie Garre and Katie Klyczek earned a win in the No. 1 spot over the 40th ranked double tandem in the country in Nebraska’s Madeleine Geibert and Stefanie Weinstein, 8-6.
 
In singles, Indiana’s Leslie Hureau, ranked No. 99 nationally, fell for the first time in Big Ten play to a tough opponent in No. 40 Mary Weatherholt, 6-2, 6-2.  The Huskers went on to clinch the match with wins at No. 4 and No. 2. 
 
IU picked up its points from Alecia Kauss and Kayla Fujimoto.  Kauss played in the No. 5 position and dominated over a ranked opponent in No. 109 Janine Weinreich, 6-1, 6-1.  Fujimoto also made quick work of NU’s Maike Zeppernick in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2. 
 
The Hoosiers will hit the road next weekend as they continue conference play.  IU will battle Minnesota on Friday, April 13, before heading to Wisconsin on Sunday, April 15.
