IU Falls to No. 15 Michigan in Big Ten Tournament

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Indiana women’s tennis, the No. 7 seed, fell in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament to second-seeded Michigan, 4-2.
Michigan started things strong taking the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to start the match. The Wolverines then followed with a win in singles at the No. 2 position to lead 2-0.
Indiana then scored its first team point as IU freshman Alecia Kauss won her No. 5 match over U-M’s Michelle Sulahain, 6-3, 6-1. The Wolverines then went up 3-1 with a No. 3 victory.
Shannon Murdy was triumphant in her No. 6 match to put IU within one with her straight set win, 6-3, 6-3. Michigan then shut the door as No. 12 Emina Bektas topped IU’s No. 71 Leslie Hureau in an exciting three set match, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
