BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The 2012-13 Indiana women’s tennis schedule will begin this weekend as IU hosts the annual Adidas Hoosier Classic on Sept. 28-30.  Play will begin on Friday as the Hoosiers will welcome Colorado, Kansas State, Notre Dame and Purdue to the IU Tennis Center.
 
There will be four flights of singles play and one flight of doubles play taking place throughout the weekend.  The first round of singles will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday.  IU returns eight players in 2012-13 from last year’s roster and hopes to use that experience to make strides this season.
 
Leslie Hureau, one of the most decorated players in program history, returns for her senior campaign after another All-Big Ten season in 2011-12.  Kayla Fujimoto and Sophie Garre return as juniors this year with another year of experience under their belts.
 
After a season that saw three freshmen regularly in IU’s starting singles lineup, five sophomores return in hopes of improving even more.  Ariel Beckerman, Carolyn Chupa, Alecia Kauss, Katie Klyczek and Shannon Murdy will begin their second year with the Hoosiers this weekend.
 
Two new faces will also be in the mix for the Hoosiers as IU added two transfers in senior Jithmie Jayawickrema and junior Gabrielle Rubenstein.
