Thursday, 04/12/2012

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – No. 31 Minnesota and Wisconsin await the No. 47 Indiana women’s tennis team this weekend.  The Hoosiers and Gophers will battle each other on Friday, April 13, at 4:30 p.m. ET in Minneapolis.  IU will then head to Madison to take on the Badgers on Sunday, April. 15, beginning at Noon ET.

These matches will be Indiana’s (15-6, 4-3) final back-to-back weekend of road matches for the season.  Junior Leslie Hureau jumped up 34 spots this week in the ITA National Singles Rankings, as she is now ranked No. 65 nationally.  Hureau is 6-1 in Big Ten singles matches this season.

Minnesota (13-5, 3-4) hopes to get on the right track as the Gophers have lost in four of their last five matches.  Minnesota is led by Alexa Palen who is ranked No. 124 in the national singles rankings.  The Gophers also boast a nationally ranked doubles duo in Natallia Pintusava and Magdalena Wiecha, who are No. 45 in the country.

The Hoosiers have had Wisconsin’s (10-9, 1-6) number as of late, as the Badgers have not beaten IU since 2003.  UW has lost four consecutive matches this season and will look for some home cooking this weekend.
