RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 54 NC State men’s tennis team drew the tenth seed for the ACC Tournament, and will compete against No. 43 Georgia Tech on Thursday, April 16, at 12 p.m. The Cary Tennis Center is hosting the tournament, which goes through the 19th. The winner of the contest will face No. 25 Miami on the 17th at 12 p.m. For full information, including a complete bracket, visit the 2009 ACC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships Central page located at http://www.theacc.com/championships/09-tennis-championship.html.

The Yellow Jackets hosted NC State earlier this season, and took the 6-1 decision in Atlanta, Ga. The Pack enters the tournament with a 9-14 (3-8 ACC) record on the season, and Georgia Tech, who is the seventh seed in the tournament, is 10-10 (5-6 ACC).  Each team enters the tournament with one ranked singles player and one ranked doubles pair.

Senior Jay Weinacker is currently ranked 37th in the nation in singles after defeating then-No. 17 Dominic Inglot of top-ranked Virginia last weekend. Weinacker has gone 14-8 this season at the No. 1 singles spot, and holds a 7-4 conference record, four of which were over higher-ranked opponents. Senior Christian Welte and redshirt freshman Julian Sullivan are ranked 74th in doubles following a swift 8-5 victory over the then-No. 1 doubles pair in the nation two weeks ago. The duo is currently 9-11 on the season.

Guillermo Gomez is Georgia Tech’s lone ranked singles player, entering the tournament with a No. 11 ranking. Gomez currently holds an 11-6 record at the top singles spot, including a loss handed to him by Weinacker earlier in the season. Gomez and doubles partner Ryan Smith are 44th in the nation and are 6-7 so far this season.
