NC State Men’s Tennis Set for Final Home Weekend

Wolfpack to hold Senior Day on Sunday

The No. 67 NC State men’s tennis team will wrap up the home portion of
its schedule this weekend. The Wolfpack will take on No. 1 Virginia on
Friday at 3 p.m., before facing No. 38 Virginia Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Both matches will take place at Pullen Park.

Sunday will serve as Senior Day for both David Chermak and Rob Lowe.
Chermak, a native of Raleigh, owns 20 singles and 15 doubles victories
for his career. Lowe, a product of Pershore, U.K., boasts 40 wins in
doubles and 20 in solo action.

The Pack currently stands at 8-11 (0-7 ACC) and returns to action after
falling to No. 47 Florida and No. 28 Miami last weekend. Julian Sullivan
picked up singles wins in both matches.

ITA Polls
The Wolfpack is currently ranked 67th in the latest ITA team poll.

No. 1 Virginia has six singles players ranked, as well as four doubles
combos. The Cavaliers are led by No. 2 Alex Domijan, No. 5 Michael
Shabaz, No. 25 Sanam Singh, No. 37 Drew Courtney, No. 44 Jarmere Jenkins
and No. 120 Justin Shane. In doubles Courtney and Shabaz currently stand
at No. 2, followed by Domijan and Shabaz (No. 25), Jenkins and Domijan
(No. 27) and Singh and Steven Rooda (No. 70).

Virginia Tech is ranked No. 38 in the ITA team poll. Luka Somen is the
lone Hokie to be ranked in singles action, standing at 50th. The doubles
team of Pedro Graber and Will Beck is ranked No. 66.

Scouting the Opposition
Undefeated Virginia comes to Raleigh with a perfect record on the
season, standing at 22-0 (7-0 ACC). The Cavaliers defeated No. 10 Duke
and No. 17 North Carolina at home this past weekend.

Virginia Tech currently stands at 11-8 (3-4 ACC), and is coming off of
two home losses against No. 17 North Carolina and No. 10 Duke last
weekend. The Hokies will travel to Wake Forest of Friday before coming
to Raleigh to face the Pack on Sunday.
