NC State Men’s Tennis Falls to Miami, 5-2

Julian Sullivan grabbed his second singles win of the weekend and Dave Thomson added another as No. 59 NC State fell to No. 28 Miami, 5-2, at Pullen Park on Sunday, April 3.

The Hurricanes barely outmatched the Wolfpack in doubles to take an early 1-0 lead. Dominic Hodgson and Rob Lowe topped Waylon Chin and Keith Crowley, 8-4, but the Canes were able to grab 8-6 victories at the other two spots.

In singles, Sullivan smoked Eduardo Pavia, 6-1, 6-2, and Dave Thomson came from behind to best Gabriel Flores, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

The loss moves the Pack to 8-11 (0-7 ACC) on the year, while the Canes climb to 12-5 (6-1 ACC).

NC State will wrap up the home portion of its schedule next weekend, hosting Virginia on Friday, April 8 at 3 p.m., before taking on Virginia Tech on Sunday, April 10 at 1 p.m. Both matches will take place at Pullen Park, and the Virginia Tech contest will serve as Senior Day for both David Chermak and Rob Lowe.
