NC State Men’s Tennis Hits the Road for Regular Season Finale

RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 56 NC State men’s tennis will end the regular season on the road this weekend with matches at No. 48 Maryland and Boston College. The Wolfpack will take on the Terrapins in College Park, Md., on Friday, April 15 at 2:30 p.m., before facing the Eagles on Sunday, April 17, at 11 a.m. in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
NC State stands at 9-12 (1-8 ACC), having split matches last weekend with No. 1 Virginia and No. 38 Virginia Tech. The Pack grabbed the doubles point and picked up four wins in singles play to down the Hokies by a 5-2 score, while Jaime Pulgar topped the nation’s 50th-ranked player in Luka Somen.
ITA Polls
The Pack is ranked 56th nationally in the latest poll released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), with Pulgar standing at No. 106 in singles.
Maryland, ranked 48th in the team poll, boasts one ranked player in No. 109 Maros Horny and one ranked doubles tandem in No. 85 Horny and Jan Surovic.
Scouting the Opposition Maryland holds a 10-10 (2-7 ACC) record, having lost three straight and eight of nine. The Terrapins two ACC victories came in a 4-3 win at Boston College and a 5-2 decision over Clemson. NC State leads the all-time series 35-27.
Boston College carries a 6-15 (0-9 ACC) record, having blanked Holy Cross 7-0 its last time out. The Pack carries an all-time 8-0 clip against the Eagles.
