NC State Men’s Tennis Drops Tough Battle to VT, 4-3

NC State opened play by taking the doubles point but ultimately fell 4-3 to Virginia Tech in the first round of the 2011 ACC Championship on Thursday, April 21 at the Cary Tennis Park.
The loss ends the Wolfpack’s season at 10-14, while the Hokies climb to 14-10.
Jaime Pulgar and Dave Thomson knocked off Luka Somen and Lucas Oliveira, 8-3, while David Chermak and Julian Sullivan topped Patrick Daciek and Corrado Degl’Incerti Tocci, 8-3, to give the Pack an early 1-0 lead with the doubles point.
Dominic Hodgson added another team point in singles by downing Daciek, 6-1, 6-4, and Dave Thomson came from from behind to best Degl’Incerti Tocci, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Tied at 3-all, the match came down to No. 3 singles between Pedro Graber and Ivan Sanchez Gomez, with Sanchez Gomez taking the opening frame before falling, 2-6, 7-6 (1), 7-5.
