No. 54 NC State to face No. 21 Georgia Tech, No. 58 Clemson
RALEIGH, N.C.— The NC State men’s tennis team, ranked No. 54 in the
latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) team poll, will hit the
road this weekend to take on No. 21 Georgia Tech and No. 58 Clemson.
The Wolfpack will face the Yellow Jackets on Friday, March 25, at 2:30
p.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center in Atlanta, Ga., before taking on
the Tigers on Sunday, March 27 at noon at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center
in Clemson, S.C.
The Pack, standing at 8-6 (0-2 ACC), returns to action after falling
this past weekend to North Carolina and Duke.
ITA Polls
The Wolfpack is currently ranked 54th in the latest ITA team poll.
No. 21 Georgia Tech has two players ranked in the singles poll: No. 14
Guillermo Gomez and No. 57 Juan Spir. The Yellow Jackets’ doubles team
of Kevin King and Spir is ranked 11th nationally.
Clemson is ranked No. 58 in the ITA team poll, while Derek Difazio
stands at No. 106 nationally in singles.
Scouting the Opposition
The Yellow Jackets (10-2, 1-1 ACC) will return to action after two weeks
off, following a 4-3 loss at Miami.
The Tigers (13-4, 0-2 ACC) topped South Carolina by a 5-2 score on
Wednesday. Clemson has dropped conference bouts to both Florida State
and Miami, and will host Wake Forest on Friday prior to taking on the
Pack.
